Napoli and President Aurelio De Laurentiis have officially announced the signing of Hamed Junior Traore from Premier League side Bournemouth on loan with a right to buy.

The Partenopei officially filed Traore’s documents with the Lega Serie A earlier on Wednesday evening.

The 23-year-old moves to the Stadio Maradona on an initial six-month loan deal, with Napoli retaining the right to buy outright for a fee of €25m.

Traore conducted his medical in Naples on Tuesday before signing off on his contract. He is not expected to travel to Saudi Arabia to join his teammates for the Supercoppa Italiana, which kicks off in Riyadh on Thursday evening.

It is a return to Serie A for Traore, who spent three years in Empoli’s academy, before joining Sassuolo in 2019, where he made a total of 108 top flight appearances.

Including his time with Empoli, Traore already has 150 Serie A appearances plus a further 10 in the Premier League to his name at the age of 23.

As is customary for Napoli signings, President De Laurentiis was the first to officially announce the news on social media. His tweet was shortly followed by the club’s official statement.
