Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed that he is reluctant to sell any one from Edinson Cavani, Marek Hamsik and Ezequiel Lavezzi this year.

The trio of Napoli stars, nicknamed The Three Tenors, are valued at around €35m each, but De Laurentiis suggests he won’t be selling any of them this year, claiming that despite the speculation to the contrary, he has not received any offers anyway.

“Lavezzi, Hamsik and Cavani? I cannot give them away and anyway, no-one has asked about them officially,” the President revealed on French radio show Rmc.

“The only one who has was [Inter President Massimo] Moratti, who a few years ago asked for Hamsik, but I told him we had just arrived in Serie A and I wanted to understand certain things before giving him a major player.

“At Paris Saint-Germain there is a Coach who follows our players and this is great, but even if every day that there are newspapers and televisions discussing bids for Lavezzi, Hamsik and Cavani, I have not had any offers beyond that from Moratti.

“I cannot give Cavani, Lavezzi or Hamsik away also because to settle in Italy it takes a player at least a year.

“We have bought [Eduardo] Vargas in the winter market from South America and he is expected to become the great revelation of the coming year. He has done a lot in South America, so we’ll see next year if he explodes.”

De Laurentiis also voiced his opinion that there is a lack of faith from Italian clubs to play younger players.

“I’ll tell you what those in charge of transfers say. ‘President, the player is better if we play him in Serie B for a year’.

“Then, the year after they tell you, ‘Now he is better off playing in Serie A at a smaller club’.

“And then I ask myself, at what age can he play for us? There is a lack of courage.”
