Nigel de Jong has backed Clarence Seedorf and says he ‘wants to know the plan’ at Milan before committing beyond the summer.

Currently preparing for the World Cup with the Netherlands national team, the 29-year-old has reflected on a difficult season with the Rossoneri, which is expected to result in Seedorf’s replacement on the bench with Pippo Inzaghi.

“We do not know anything yet but I hope that he stays,” De Jong has reflected on Seedorf this week to ANP.

“You know what it is like in Italian football, but Clarence did a fantastic job with the players that he had not chosen himself.

“We managed a lot of good performances in four months, with him, we played better and more offensive.

“Unfortunately we did not get into Europe by a point but you have to give it time, we must begin a new cycle with him.”

The midfielder was asked where the situation leaves him this summer.

“I am 29 years old, it will be an important decision. I will have to choose whether to stay here or go somewhere else.

“I’m at a big club but I just want to know what the plan is for next season.”
