El Shaarawy left the Rossoneri pre-season training camp today, ready to complete his €18m transfer to AS Monaco.

“Am I disappointed to see El Shaarawy go? Of course, that’s only natural, but this is football,” De Jong told Milan Channel.

The Dutch midfielder was asked on the official club television station how he’d feel about Ibrahimovic arriving from PSG.

“This is not a question for me. I hope he returns to Milan, because he is a real champion.

“We are aiming to go back into Europe and have a great squad, while compared to last year we’ve also recovered important players.

“Sinisa Mihajlovic is doing a great job to get us back into the Champions League. Scudetto? In my view it’s too early to talk about that, but we are Milan and must aim for the top.”
