Fresh from their triumph over Juventus, Gigi De Canio believes Lecce will beat Brescia. “We can stay in Serie A, one game at a time.”

The Salentini had seemed done for and their Coach ready for the sack at the start of 2011, but both made a remarkable recovery.

“This is an important match for both teams,” he said of today's relegation dogfight.

“It's only normal there will be tension or anxiety with regards to the result. The campaign is at a crossroads, where nobody feels entirely safe.

“We are finally on the right path for a squad of our characteristics, taking it one game at a time with a cool head, seeking good football and results. This is the mentality that leads us to face every opponent in a similar fashion.”

Lecce had several players missing against Juve last week, but are without seven for the clash with Brescia.

Giuseppe Vives and Guillermo Giacomazzi are suspended, while David Di Michele, Alberto Giuliatto, Edward Ofere, Stefano Ferrario and Nenad Tomovic are injured.

Carlos Grossmuller has recovered from a bout of flu, but it's unclear if he is fit enough to start at the Stadio Rigamonti.

With options so very limited, it's likely Ruben Olivera will act as support to lone centre-forward Jeda.

“Our philosophy of football certainly will not change,” insisted De Canio. “Lecce have achieved a team identity and, through its performances, proved that it can reach its objectives.”
