Frank de Boer admits the trip to Sparta Prague is already “a crucial result” for Inter in the Europa League and forgives Marcelo Brozovic.

It kicks off on Thursday at the Generali Arena at 18.00 UK time (17.00 GMT).

“We have to evaluate the physical fitness of our players. I am thinking for example of Davide Santon, who I don’t think is able to play three games in a row,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Tomorrow I will make a few changes, but obviously the team will nonetheless be very competitive. We have to accept the limitations on the squad and I have great confidence in the players I have for the Europa League.”

Brozovic is still frozen out despite apologising to Coach and squad for his behaviour.

“He needs to rediscover his form step by step, working with the team. I am thinking of his return with Roma this weekend.”

The Nerazzurri lost their opening Europa League tie, 2-0 at home to Hapoel Beer-Sheva, so is the pressure already on?

“Clearly we want to win this Cup. We are talking about a different competition to Serie A, but we certainly always want to win. Tomorrow will be the most important game and only after that we’ll think about Roma.

“Both Inter and Sparta Prague have zero points, so it will certainly be an important result for both sides. We want to go forward in this tournament and that makes this a crucial match.

“I don’t know the dynamics of why Sparta changed Coach. They could be a surprise to us, which may well be an advantage for them or not. In any case, I have a lot of faith in my side.

“I played here and we’re talking about a stadium with an excellent atmosphere.”

So far this season all of Inter’s goals have been scored by either Mauro Icardi or Ivan Perisic. Is De Boer worried about this dependence?

“No, absolutely not. Everyone will improve and soon their goals will arrive too. When a young player has quality, it’s fine for me to give him space to play. That is very positive for the club and the youth academy. What counts for me is what I see on a daily basis.”
