Frank de Boer acknowledges “in football there isn’t much time” but assures “I have a lot of confidence” in Inter.

The Dutchman replaced Roberto Mancini as Coach this summer, but has lost five of his opening 10 games, leading to reports that he’s already under pressure.

The Dutchman replaced Roberto Mancini as Coach this summer, but has lost five of his opening 10 games, leading to reports that he’s already under pressure.

“When you don’t win it’s always difficult, because the whole team wants to win,” De Boer told reporters in his Press conference ahead of the Southampton game.

“The results against Cagliari and Roma were negative, we need to improve in that because the last defeat shouldn’t have happened

“We’ve shown that we’re a good team, but we need to improve. We know that we need to change, in football there isn’t much time and we need to improve.

“We know we have to improve and the players know it too, we have to learn from our mistakes.

“We know that the results aren’t good, but we’re at the beginning of a project. I feel like I’m in Formula 1, with the haste of having to improve in a short time.

“We’ve played very good matches with negative results, but I have a lot of confidence in the team and I can see that it’s growing.

“I know the results are negative, but it’s just a matter of time. It’s normal when you’re starting a project. The club is aware of that, and I have faith in this team, while always knowing we have to improve certain aspects.”

So how long will it take to turn the Nerazzurri’s situation around?

“It’s hard to say… two weeks, four… it depends on how long the team needs to learn, but the time remains that.

“I repeat, in Formula 1 you can race when the car is ready, it’s normal. The technical staff has to know the squad and the squad has to know the technical staff.”
