Daniele De Rossi commented on the end-date for his Azzurri career and revealed a hidden social media presence.

The Roma midfielder spoke at a Press conference ahead of Italy’s World Cup match with Costa Rica on Friday.

“We are a group of players who have been together for a lifetime, so we know each other well and that creates a strong bond. It’s normal that in Serie A we’re one against the other, but in a World Cup they are the first people you rush to defend.

“Often the national team turns into a group of friends and the results come also from that rapport, which emerges on the field.”

Andrea Pirlo has said this will be his last World Cup, but does De Rossi have an end-date in mind?

“I don’t see an expiry date yet. I feel strong and young still, while this season with Roma has given me more confidence in my abilities and fitness levels.

“As long as I can honour the jersey, I’ll cling to it as tightly as I can.”

With regards to jerseys, De Rossi had a message for some Internet hoaxers.

“I don’t use social media publicly. I use profiles with a different name on Facebook so that I can share and communicate with friends and family.

“There are many fake profiles out there. Yesterday someone put ‘my’ jersey from the game with England up for sale, but it certainly wasn’t me…”
