Parma coach Roberto D’Aversa claims Serie A must scrap the team quarantine, as having to stop again ‘would be the biggest mistake’.

The Gialloblu sit ninth in Serie A upon the resumption and could leapfrog Milan at seventh if they win their game in hand.

But, as the whole team face a two-week quarantine in the case of a positive test, the coach doesn’t think it’s plausible to reach the conclusion of the season.

“Starting again and then stopping would be the biggest mistake,” D’Aversa told Rai Sport. “And if it doesn’t change the fact that a positive case quarantines the whole team for two weeks, I find it hard to believe that the championship can end.

“Some cases might emerge, and this would mean that we won’t complete the campaign.”

Today, Serie A clubs will meet with the Federcalcio and the Lega to set the schedule for the resumption and D’Aversa claims the missing games should be completed first.

“Resuming with the games in hand would be right, it would help clear the table in the view of new problems.

“It would be nice for us to have certain dates. Before the stop, we worked in the dark for three weeks on.

“I hope that it can serve as a lesson and that we will start again by improving. We can resume. We do serological swabs and tests every four days. It must be understood if we are to coexist with the virus.

“If we wait for it to disappear completely, then we should suspend the championship and think about the next one.”
