The Ducali are fresh from a surprise 1-0 victory over Inter, the first time they’ve conquered San Siro since 1999.

“We resume with the enthusiasm of knowing we achieved something remarkable, but also the knowledge we are about to play a very difficult game,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Cagliari are a strong side and we need the same attitude we had against Inter and Juventus, regardless of who we are facing.

“Rolando Maran’s teams are always well-organised with a high pressing, giving you no time to think. It’ll be fundamental to win the individual duels around the field and not getting stretched out on the counter.

“It’s good to have a positive attitude, but you must balance it out so you don’t underestimate the opponent.”

There are some issues for D’Aversa, because Alberto Grassi is out injured, with Leo Stulac and Massimo Gobbi not 100 per cent fit.

“I see Cagliari being in mid-table and not one of the five or six sides fighting to avoid relegation this season, as they invested a lot over the last two years, with players like Leonardo Pavoletti and Nicolò Barella standing out. We’ve got to be wary of their crosses, as Pavoletti is so strong in the air.”

SPAL will be in action again for the midweek round with high-flying Sassuolo on Thursday.

“We have some difficulties in midfield due to injuries, but I don’t like to create alibis for the team. We must give 100 per cent and bring home the result.”

Parma squad for Cagliari: Bagheria, Frattali, Sepe; Bastoni, Bruno Alves, Dimarco, Gagliolo, Gazzola, Gobbi, Iacoponi, Sierralta; Barillà, Deiola, Rigoni, Stulac; Ceravolo, Ciciretti, Da Cruz, Di Gaudio, Gervinho, Inglese, Siligardi, Sprocati
