Roberto D’Aversa says Sampdoria needed ‘real men’ to beat Salernitana and thanks club directors for their support.

The 46-year-old was under pressure after collecting just nine points in 12 games. The Blucerchiati climbed to 12 points after a 2-0 win away at Salernitana.

“We needed real men to win this game, and everybody put in a great performance,” D’Aversa told DAZN.

“This victory means a lot. We’ve been working really well in the last few weeks. Nobody wanted to concede a goal and you could see everyone’s commitment on the pitch.

“We were so good and I want to thank the club for their support,” D’Aversa continued.

“This victory is for the President and for the fans.”
