Parma boss Roberto D’Aversa confessed “Sampdoria were superior to us today, both in terms of quality and physicality.”

Gianluca Caprari and Fabio Quagliarella sealed the 2-0 result after a second half siege and several Luigi Sepe saves.

“I think Sampdoria were superior to us today, both in terms of quality and physicality,” D’Aversa told DAZN.

“We used up a lot of energy in the first half keeping things on track, but after the break we had run out of steam.

“It’s natural to be missing a few players, but that is not why we lost. We simply met a team that was in better shape and had more quality throughout the squad.

“We’ve got to work towards the next game against Bologna, which is the most important for us. I’ll talk to the team tomorrow and we can analyse our errors.”
