According to multiple reports, Conte has abandoned the initial idea of going all-attack with Belgium and trying to spread their weakened defence by using wingers Stephan El Shaarawy and Antonio Candreva.

Instead, Manchester United wing-back Matteo Darmian is now expected to start on the left, though Candreva retains his spot.

Daniele De Rossi has almost certainly pushed Thiago Motta on to the bench after their respective performances in recent friendlies against Scotland and Finland.

In attack, Inter striker Eder looks increasingly likely to get the nod alongside Graziano Pellè, as this is the pairing that played the most minutes together for Italy under Conte.

Simone Zaza is considered too exuberant to be risked from the start, so the Juventus forward will come off the bench.

Belgium (probable): Courtois; Alderweireld, Vermaelen, Denayer, Vertonghen; Nainggolan, Fellaini, Witsel; De Bruyne, Lukaku, Hazard

Italy (probable): Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Candreva, Parolo, De Rossi, Giaccherini, Darmian; Eder, Pellè
