The former Torino full-back is lining up for his first taste of the Derby della Madonnina this weekend and has been asked to compare it to his experiences of the Derby della Mole against Juventus” data-scaytid=”6″>Juventus.
“It’s a completely different derby, because there is so much difference between the clubs in Turin while here the teams are equal in their projects and investments,” D’Ambrosio has settled with Tuttosport today.
“And the Milan derby is talked about the world over – it is normal to feel more in build-up to the match.
“Could I score against Milan again this season? I’m training with the same intensity, then we shall see. The important thing is to win the derby. And to get fifth place.”
There were rumours that the Rossoneri were talking to D’Ambrosio before he moved to Inter in January.
“Maybe not quite, as I have arrived at Inter. It was Inter who I wanted more and I have explained why. The team reflects its Coach.
“If [Walter Mazzarri] has never been fired and has always done well wherever he has gone, there must be a reason for it.
“Emulating Javier Zanetti? I would sign up now to achieve only half of what he has done in his career.
“For how Pupi even trains, it is hard to believe he will retire in 20 days. Seeing him, he seems to be 10 years younger.”
D’Ambrosio also discussed the motivations behind his move with Libero this week.
“It was a hard choice but I wanted to make that quantum leap to an important team. I wanted to put myself in contention to see where I could go.
“Certainly thanks to my teammates for me being at Inter, but also thanks to Ventura, with his teachings, it has felt like less of an impact with a great team like Inter.
“He gave me confidence, taught me so many things tactically, things that at the beginning I struggled with.
“With him I developed both tactically and personally, even to believe in my potential, in what I can do and to try to do more each day.
“Differences at Inter? The team’s objectives are different. At Toro earlier this year there were calls to avoid relegation, but Inter’s goals are different. Torino, if they draw with Bologna, a point is fine, if Inter draw with Bologna it looks like a defeat.”
