There are devastating floods in Florence and the weather report for the weekend is not reassuring, but the Mayor assures there are currently ‘no plans’ to postpone Fiorentina vs. Juventus.

The match is due to kick off at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday at 19.45 GMT.

Storm Ciaran has moved on from the UK across Europe and hit Italy particularly hard in the region of Tuscany, where there are already six confirmed deaths.

Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella spoke to reporters today and was also asked about safety concerns around the upcoming big Serie A match.

“The river Arno is under control from this morning, but the most difficult situation is in the Campo Bisenzio area, where I’m afraid there are many families who have been forced out of their homes.

“There are currently no plans to postpone the match, but the situation will be monitored over the next few hours. We are working tirelessly, but if the rain should continue over the weekend, it would become difficult.

“Unfortunately, the weather predictions are not good.”

There has been a block on amateur and youth sport in the region of Tuscany this weekend due to the conditions.
