Crotone have asked for Chievo’s first two Serie A games to be postponed so the FIGC can rule on their alleged false accounting.

The Flying Donkeys have today been charged for allegedly inflating the value of their players and assets, allowing them to pass the financial checks necessary to register for the top flight.

The charge had to be resubmitted due to a technical error, but the prosector had previously asked for a 15 point deduction to be applied to last season.

That sanction was applied to Cesena, who were charged and convicted in the original trial.

As the team that finished 18th in Serie A last season, Crotone would take Chievo’s place in the division if that punishment was applied to them as a result of the new charge.

After the charge was resubmitted, the Squali, through their lawyers Elio Manica and Giancarlo Pittelli, have requested that their first Serie B game be postponed and the Flying Donkeys’ two Serie A games be postponed, “to allow the sporting justice system to rule on the accounting case relating to the Venetian club”.

Chievo are due to play the very first game of the season at home to Juventus, and it’s unlikely this challenge will be accepted.

Crotone previously petitioned for the entire Serie A season to be postponed, but that was yesterday rejected by the FIGC.
