Palermo’s Bryan Cristante says he’ll ‘always be grateful to Milan’ and has no regrets about his Benfica spell.

The 20-year-old returned to Serie A in January on loan from Benfica after leaving the Rossoneri for Portugal in the summer of 2014.

“Staying in Italy is always the easiest solution: you’re at your home, with your own culture, your language,” Cristante told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It’s more relaxed and basically we’re ready to have a great second half of the season.

“Milan are the team I grew up in, they gave me the chance to have a debut early on and at the top level and I must always be grateful for that.

“On Wednesday I’ll have a lot of people to greet. But now I’m a Palermo player, I’m not thinking about anything but winning this match.

“I see myself in Aquilani, he’s one of the big players who I’ve had the fortune to play with. Alberto has similar characteristics to me, he’s a great midfielder.

“I feel good in front of the defence as well as in midfield. But if I had to choose, I’d say in midfield.

“My future? I see myself abroad again, maybe in the Premier League, which is a league I like. But I wouldn’t say no to a Milan return.”
