Domenico Criscito has claimed Genoa have “intentions” of building on the good start to 2020 and “still don’t like” the position they have in the League.

The Rossoblu captain said he knows there’s hard work ahead but was happy to have started the year with a “difficult” win against Sassuolo.

“We knew it would be a difficult match,” the captain told the club’s official website. “We wanted to start they year in the best possible way and we did it.

The Rossoblu captain said he knows there’s hard work ahead but was happy to have started the year with a “difficult” win against Sassuolo.

“We knew it would be a difficult match,” the captain told the club’s official website. “We wanted to start they year in the best possible way and we did it.

“We know that there’s a long road ahead, but we’ve got intentions to continue this way.”

Genoa are second to bottom of Serie A and the poor start led to Davide Nicola coming in to replace Thiago Motta at the helm.

Now, Criscito is looking to do something about their position in the table.

“We didn’t like our position in the League, and we still don’t,” Criscito added. “As captain of the team, I need to lead them. Now, a lot of men with character have arrived and they could help us out.

“The coach, like many of us, is from Genoa. We are looking to give everything and more.”
