This is Juric’s first game since replacing sacked Davide Ballardini, although it’s technically his third spell on the Grifone bench.

“The Coach is fired up. I knew Ivan as a player and he has the same grit now that he did when he was a teammate,” Criscito told Sky Sport Italia.

“Of course we were all sad when Ballardini was fired, but the Coach is Juric now and we must go forward with him.

“We’ve conceded too many goals this season, but we worked hard this week in training to limit those errors.”

Poland international Krzysztof Piatek has scored 75 per cent of all Genoa’s goals this season.

“Piatek is a great striker, we hope he can score a goal and has the quality to pierce one of the best defences in Serie A.”
