“I married a woman from Genoa, my children were born in Genoa, so this city is my home. The fans love me and I have never forgotten them.

“Even from Russia, I continue to watch Genoa and my children have a passion for the Rossoblu jersey too. I hope that one day my children will be able to wear this shirt.

“St Petersburg is a beautiful city, but the first few months were difficult for me and my family. I got to play football and see other people, but my wife was pregnant with our first child at the time. We got over the obstacles and now it feels as if the seven months have flown by. I am in the Zenit history books as the defender who scored the most goals for the club.”
