“I’m very happy to be back here after seven years,” Criscito began, speaking at his presentation Press conference.

“I only left Genoa physically, what I can give is passion for this shirt and experience, and I hope I can be really helpful for my teammates.

“I talked to the President and he wants to build a good team and I’m sure he’ll invest. The important thing is to go on the pitch and give 100 per cent, because that’s what the fans want.

“Genoa is a historic part of Italian football, we need to go on the pitch and give our best, then the results will come.

“What do I expect? To win the derby…

“It wasn’t complicated to come back, it was a choice I made with my heart. I turned down a lot of money and the opportunity to play in the Champions League. I chose Genoa.

“I’m happy with my choice and I’d do it again. I made a tough choice seven years ago, but I always said I’d be back.

“I had seven good years in Russia, I played with important players like Hulk and [Axel] Witsel. I leave beautiful memories, the fans greeted me wonderfully.

“What I can bring here, as I’ve said before, is my passion and the ability to make people understand what it means to play for Genoa.”
