There are major COVID-19 outbreaks in Serie B and C with dozens of cases at Frosinone and Triestina, despite two rounds being called off.

The authorities called off two Serie B sets of fixtures that were meant to be played over Christmas.

It was considered a ‘circuit-breaker’ after a slew of new positive cases at various clubs.

However, upon their return from the Christmas break, the Coronavirus has spread rapidly.

The situation at Serie C side Triestina is particularly devastating, as there are 18 positive tests throughout the club, including 11 players and seven members of staff.

Due to the outbreak, training has been suspended and everyone will remain in self-isolation until at least January 2, having swabs every 48 hours.

The upcoming match set for January 9 has also been postponed by the local authorities.

Frosinone aren’t faring much better in Serie B, as they have 10 players who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Training has been postponed here too until at least December 30, although more tests are planned.
