There were 23 deaths related to COVID-19 in Italy over the last 24 hours, with 218 new cases, but all except two regions had 12 or under new positive tests.

The pandemic is increasingly localised around the Lombardy region, as 143 of the 218 new cases were in this area.

An additional 23 deaths took the total since the crisis began to 34,657, of which 16,573 were in Lombardy.

The good news is that the new active cases are increasingly localised, with only Lombardy (143) and Emilia-Romagna (22) adding significant numbers.

There are now just 127 patients in ICU, compared to 148 yesterday, with 2,038 in hospital compared to 2,314 on Sunday.
