Although his contract is due to expire on June 30, club and player seem intent on keeping that momentum going.

“We hope it won’t take long, as we are very optimistic on a contract renewal,” agent Gabriele Giuffrida told Calciomercato24.com.

“Despite his advancing age, he is still a key figure in this club. Rodrigo is very happy in Bologna, has an excellent rapport with the fans and the city, while the club admires him, so there’s everything needed to continue together.”

The representative was asked if this could include an option to stay on as a director after hanging up his boots.

“For the moment, the offer is just regarding his playing career and for next season. We don’t know what could happen after that.”
