Serse Cosmi ended the five-match losing streak in spectacular fashion by beating Milan. “It's the match every Coach would like to see.”

Palermo had lost three consecutive games under Delio Rossi and the first two since Cosmi took charge, but shocked the Serie A leaders 1-0.

“I think this is the match every Coach would like to see. We had the right attitude and the ferocity that had been lacking in recent weeks,” said the tactician.

“I think this is the match every Coach would like to see. We had the right attitude and the ferocity that had been lacking in recent weeks,” said the tactician.

“I hope that Palermo can begin again from this performance. Josip Ilicic played internal in a 3-5-1-1 system, proving this is a role he can fulfil very well.

“I have to praise everyone tonight, as this was my squad. Even if we had drawn the game, I couldn't have complained.

“I think this side needed to learn a few things about my style of football, so I was never going to resolve every problem in the first two games.”

Palermo kept a rare clean sheet even with a revamped defence, as Giulio Migliaccio played in the makeshift back three.

“Migliaccio went to the defence as an emergency stop-gap, but he proved he's more than capable of playing there. Today against the Milan champions, he had a great game.”
