There were another 53 coronavirus deaths in Italy on Thursday, but the rate of new positive cases has risen in 24 hours.

Four regions – Sicilia, Umbria, Valle d’Aosta and Moilse – reported no new cases of COVID-19.

However, 379 more people tested positive, compared to yesterday’s gain of 202, with Lombardy accounting for almost 70 percent of them (252).

As of Thursday, there have been 236,142 positive tests of COVID-19 (+379), with 30,637 of them currently active (-1,073).

As of Thursday, there have been 236,142 positive tests of COVID-19 (+379), with 30,637 of them currently active (-1,073).

A total of 171,338 people have recovered (+1,399) and 34,167 have died.

Out of the 30,637 active cases, 26,270 are in self-isolation (-1,758), 4,131 are in hospital with symptoms (-189) and 262 are in intensive care (-20).

There have now been 4,443,879 tests, an increase of 52,530 since yesterday.
