There were more drops in active positive cases of coronavirus, hospitalisations and intensive care admissions on Monday, despite a minor daily rise in deaths.

This is the first bulletin since Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced Phase Two of Italy’s COVID-19 response would kick in on May 4.

Although the daily death toll rose slightly from 260 to 333 in the last 24 hours, more than 1,000 hospital beds have been freed up since Sunday.

As of Monday, there have been 199,414 positive tests of COVID-19 (+1,739), with 105,813 of them currently active (-290).

A total of 66,624 people have recovered (+1,696) and 26,977 have died.

Out of the 105,813 active cases, 83,504 are in self-isolation (+702), 20,153 are in hospital with symptoms (-1,019) and 1,956 are in intensive care (-53).

There have now been 1,789,662 tests, an increase of 32,003 since yesterday.
