Eugenio Corini hopes the extraordinary comeback to win 4-3 at Genoa can boost Palermo’s confidence. “I believe in safety.”

The Rosanero had lost nine Serie A games in a row, a club record – 10 including the Coppa Italia – and Corini is their third Coach of the season.

“We did well against Fiorentina and lost without deserving to. The same happened with Chievo. Today we had 10 nightmare minutes in which all our usual fears emerged, but then we equalised and created chances to go in front.

“This is the spirit that we need going forward. There’s a very important match coming up against Pescara and we need to pick up points on home turf, but in psychological terms tonight’s game was too important to get wrong.

“We threw our heart and souls into that comeback and it paid off. I believe in safety. After the defeat to Fiorentina, I saw 20,000 fans in the stadium. It was an act of love from the supporters and I expect the Stadio Barbera that I remember well on Thursday night.”
