Edy Reja has defended his Lazio side after their Coppa Italia exit to Milan on Thursday. “We don’t have a big enough squad.”

The Biancocelesti lost their quarter-final tie at San Siro after the Rossoneri came from a goal down to record a 3-1 win.

“It is difficult for us to fight on three fronts,” the tactician argued. “We don’t have the squad to do that.

“Now we have the championship and the Europa League to concentrate on for the rest of this season.

“The 3-1 defeat? We did our best, but Milan are a great side.

“I’m just disappointed with the third goal that we conceded as Zlatan Ibrahimovic was half a metre offside.”

There was some good news for the Biancocelesti though as Djibril Cisse brought an end to his goal drought.

“I think that the goal will charge him up,” Reja added. “The situation was affecting him. I now hope that he has got his conviction back.”
