Toro had penalty appeals when Kamil Glik’s header struck the arm of Abdoullay Konko, but the visitors doubled their lead moments later. Keita threaded through for Cataldi, who rolled across for Klose to come sliding in. It was the 36-year-old’s first goal in all competition since November 3.
Josef Martinez had a similar move at the other end, but no teammate was ready to meet the assist. Maxi Lopez came off the bench for his Torino debut, though Lazio threatened a second on the counter with Keita drilling inches wide following a Matteo Darmian error.
Toro took the hint and got back into the game, as Martinez sprung the offside trap and blasted in from just inside the area, finding a huge gap in the Lazio back four.
The game turned again, as Klose went clear on goal and turned wide when Daniele Padelli rushed off the line to clatter into him. The referee opted for a red card and penalty, which Cristian Ledesma converted. Toro were furious, as they claimed Klose had already taken the shot and missed before the collision.
Omar El Kaddouri had penalty appeals, but was fortunate not to be booked for simulation, while Marco Parolo somehow turned wide of an open goal. Torino fans jeered their own team and staged a protest against President Urbano Cairo in the stands.
