Simone Inzaghi’s future at Inter is hanging by a thread and the club have already contacted Antonio Conte as they start to plan ahead, reports suggest.

The Nerazzurri suffered a painful 2-1 loss to strugglers Spezia on Friday, leaving them in a tense spot as the top four race continues to heat up. Inzaghi’s side have looked frustratingly inconsistent this season, only finding some salvation in the Champions League.

Next week’s second leg clash with Porto could prove crucial for Inzaghi’s future at Inter and many in the management are unconvinced about the former Lazio coach’s suitability about the club.

As reported by Tuttosport, Inter contacted Conte a few days ago to discuss his plans for the future and whether a return to Lombardy is a possibility.

The Italian coach is destined to leave Tottenham when his contract expires in June and there are already suggestions that he’ll take a sabbatical year, pushing Inter to try and clarify things.

It’s not forgotten by the Nerazzurri that Conte was the one who got the best out of Romelu Lukaku, who could stay should a new deal be set up with Chelsea.
