Antonio Conte was named Serie A Coach of the Year for 2020-21 after Inter took the title, beating Milan boss Stefano Pioli by one vote. ‘I am happy to receive an award voted for by my colleagues.’

Now at Tottenham Hotspur after leaving Inter by mutual consent in the summer, Conte helped the Nerazzurri win their first Scudetto in a decade.

He beat Milan to the top spot in the title race and again when it came to this award, as Conte received 20 votes for the Panchina d’Oro, compared to 19 for Rossoneri coach Pioli.

Third place went to Atalanta tactician Gian Piero Gasperini, who received eight votes from his peers.

“I am happy because this is an award voted for by my colleagues in the coaching profession,” said Conte in London.

“I wish to share this recognition with my staff and the players with whom I shared last season’s journey at Inter.”

This is the fourth time that Conte has won the Panchina d’Oro award as best Serie A coach of the year.

He also received the Panchina d’Argento for his Serie B exploits, and was given a special merit award in 2018 when winning the Premier League with Chelsea.

“Antonio Conte deserved this award because he was able in a short space of time to transfer to the players his mentality and philosophy,” said technical sector President Demetrio Albertini at the ceremony.

“He had the great satisfaction of seeing his ideas put into practice on the pitch.”
