The challenging season of the Portuguese suggests he is unlikely to be at the helm of the London club next year, and speculation is rife as to who the successor could be.

Among the candidates brought forwards by the Daily Mirror is the name of Conte.

While the former Juventus Coach is bound to La Nazionale until the end of Euro 2016, he has collided frequently with Serie A clubs and with the federation and is thought to be less than enthusiastic about the position.

The bench of Chelsea could be an option for him should he decide to leave the Azzurri.

Other candidates forwarded by the Mirror include Pep Guardiola, Gus Hiddink, Carlo Ancelotti, John Terry and Ronald Koeman.
