Antonio Conte was visibly frustrated after Tottenham’s 1-0 loss against Burnley last night and claimed that he will make his assessment with the club: ‘I have ambition, losing four games in the last five is unacceptable.’

Spurs’ hopes to finish in the top-four have been affected during the last month with the North Londoners losing four of their last five Premier League games. Their only win came in an away clash against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Conte was frustrated by last night’s result and blamed himself for ‘not being able’ to change the situation.

“We lost four games of the last five. No one deserves this type of situation – the club, me, the payers and fans, but this is the reality,” he said at a press conference, as quoted by Football London.

“I came in to try to improve the situation in Tottenham but maybe at this moment, I don’t know, I’m not so good to improve the situation.

“For me, it’s very frustrating because I know we’re working hard, working a lot and trying to get the best out of every single player. The reality is this.

“I’m too honest to close my eyes and say: ‘OK on Saturday we’re going to play another game’. It’s right at the moment to see well, what is the situation well and to make an assessment. Also, I repeat: I’m really frustrated and I’m not used to being faced with this type of situation.

“I think Tottenham called me to improve the situation, but I’m too honest. I’m too honest to close my eyes, you understand, and to continue to say ‘ok I want to finish the season in this way and ok my salary is good’.

“But I’m not this type of person. I have ambition, I’m a person who has ambition, I hate to lose and we lost, I repeat, four games in the last five games. And for me, I repeat, this is unacceptable.

“I won’t accept this. I want to try to improve the situation and also to make assessment with the club because if we continue in this way, maybe we have to pay great attention because in this league we can finish 10th, 12th, 13th the same way that when I arrive here, the same position.”

Conte signed an 18-month contract with Tottenham in November. He has won seven Premier League games out of 14, drawing three and losing four. He was unbeaten in his first league game, but then lost four of the last five matches.

  1. I swear this guy is big loser and here we go again, he will force his leave and run away looking for another club.

  2. Hes an idiot. Premier league is a tough place to play in. Spurs have made errors in transfers. he Should have stayed at Inter. He quit Juve too.

  3. Conte is showing his frustration at not being backed to the tune of the players he wanted in the transfer window, he evaluated the squad in the few months he’d been here and made it clear he wanted a right wingback, a left footed centre back an attacking creative midfielder and another striker. This being advised, why the hell did Paratici and Levy sign a defensive midfielder and another winger? The reason they signed those two was because of the links with Juventus and Paratici. Pointless signing these for the sake of it, when that’s not what Conte wanted, they were signed because Levy made money on the window and they were two half decent players that could be brought in to give the illusion that Levy and Paratici were trying, all Levy has ever been worried about is making a profit, and that is why we struggle year after year.

The fans that can’t see that it’s Levy holding back this team are themselves part of the problem, until the fans all unite and demand change or cause so much unrest that Levy and Lewis want to call it quits, nothing will change and Lewis and Levy will carry on taking those fans for an even longer ride and the ones that can see it along with them.

From all the great managers we’ve had, right up to Conte now, none of them have been able to win anything at a club the size of Spurs because they’ve all had their hands tied, time to out Levy, Lewis and ENIC and untie Conte’s hands before he decides to walk too.

  4. His coaching ability speaks for itself just check out his Champions League record (12 won, 11 draws & 11 defeats) at Juve, Chelsea and Inter. He can only do well in a well established team or if club throw money at whoever he wants to buy. Slamming changing room doors only worked at Juve because he had players who respected him due to his ties with the club and some senior players. Average manager at best, spurs is a good place for him but his ego tells him different.

  5. Wow!! I’m superseded you guys didn’t blame Jose Mourinho for this? Pretty everything you write now it’s about Jose

  6. Another Conte article on FI, but let’s comment anyway. This guy is a whining whinger who knew what he was getting into with Tottenham yet, not even 3 months in and he wants to throw the towel in. A decent manager sticks to his guns and works hard to make the team better in line with his contractual arrangements. I don’t know why clubs keep hiring this clown and UCL failure. He is damaging whatever reputation he had with these constant cry baby walkouts. He is a Juve legend, ex-Captain and 3x scudetto winner, but as a Juve supporter he is very hard to stomach. He actually belongs to Inter who, like him, whinge, moan and cry when things don’t go their way.
