The Chelsea manager is a former Bianconeri Coach, winning three Scudetti in a row including an unbeaten season in 2011-12.

Max Allegri’s side already has a seven point gap on the chasing pack, but his predecessor believes European success must be the objective.

“When you have the eighth-highest wage bill in the world you have to look beyond Serie A,” Conte opined, speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Juventus have made important investments which are up there with the top international clubs. When you have a squad like that of the current Juve, you must have big objectives.

“Has Serie A already been wrapped-up? Nothing is obvious in football, but if the competition sells you [Gonzalo] Higuain and [Miralem] Pjanic then everything becomes easier.”

Conte was Italy CT before taking over at Chelsea, and was asked about his biggest regret with the national team.

“The penalties with Germany. We had match point. If we’d beaten Germany then I’m convinced we’d have gone all the way.

“The national team was an exceptional group, the team was a single block, strong mentally and physically. We got past Spain very well and forced Germany to play against their nature.

“Will I return to Italian football? Definitely. But now my mind and – I hope – my immediate future are with Chelsea.

“I want to enjoy and understand this new reality.”
