Antonio Conte admits Marco Verratti and Claudio Marchisio’s injuries complicate things for Italy but “we’ve found some solutions”.

The CT will be without two of his first choice midfielders in France this summer, as Verratti had surgery for a groin injury and Marchisio ruptured his cruciate ligament.

“It doesn’t matter where you start, what counts is where you arrive,” Conte told journalists in a Press conference today.

The CT will be without two of his first choice midfielders in France this summer, as Verratti had surgery for a groin injury and Marchisio ruptured his cruciate ligament.

“It doesn’t matter where you start, what counts is where you arrive,” Conte told journalists in a Press conference today.

“It’s inevitable that injuries have complicated our plans, but we’ve found some solutions which could come back and be very useful.

“It disrupted our plans, also from a tactical point of view, but we have some certainties like the Juventus defence.

“We’ll start from there.”

Torino striker Andrea Beloit was not called-up for this week’s training camp, with his teammate Ciro Immobile given the nod instead.

“He did very well, he’s on my radar but I preferred to see Immobile because he’s a player who has given me a lot. He’s coming off an injury, that’s why I called Ciro.”

Finally, Conte was asked about Sweden, who Italy will face on June 17, and in particular their star man Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“They’re a very good team, they’re very well-drilled tactically,” Conte warned.

“They move very well, and up-front they have a top player like Zlatan. Talking about Ibrahimovic is reductive.

“He’s a great champion and I think he’s got even stronger as he’s matured.”
