Renzo Ulivieri has sympathised with Antonio Conte’s Italy frustration, but reminded him that he is not a Coach of a club anymore.

The Azzurri boss used his post-match conference with the media after last night’s win over Albania to hit out at the ‘lack of participation’ he has seen from clubs so far.

For the President of the Coaches’ Association, it’s a sign of the 45-year-old still adjusting to his new position with the Azzurri.

“I do not think his outburst will cause any issue,” Ulivieri has considered today.

“We are talking about a good Coach who has to digest the transition from Coach to Commissario Tecnico.

“It may be that he is finding this a bit more difficult.

“I do not know if Conte has received assurances from President Carlo Tavecchio. Probably, from when he was at Juventus, he is still annoyed at the fact many of his players were called up by the national team.

“If players make the national team, it is thanks to their Coach and their Coach must be happy to have their player with the national team.

“The problems related to management of the national team are not new. Whoever does the international calendar is not Italian, we know what the situation is and that there is little space within to work.

“On the other hand, it is clear that the CT is thinking of turning the national team into a club, I understand what Conte wants to do.”
