Sky Sport Italia claim Italy boss Antonio Conte is in negotiations to take over at Chelsea, becoming favourite ahead of Max Allegri.

The reports have been circulating for several weeks that Roman Abramovich wants an Italian tactician to succeed caretaker manager Guus Hiddink.

Allegri had been the favourite, but he reiterated his intention to see out the contract with Juventus, which doesn’t expire until June 2017.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Conte met with Chelsea representatives in Rome over the last few days.
