The Azzurri CT will select 23 players for the tournament in France this summer, and admitted yesterday that he had a basic idea of his squad.

Today, in an interview with Rai Sport, the former Juventus Coach has revealed that there are seven places up for grabs.

“I have 16 certainties for now,” Conte explained.

“In these past few days some have gained ground, others have lost it. When I make the call-ups I’ll be frank, there will be no political choices.”

Conte has already announced that he’ll step down after the European Championship, but insists his relationship with FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio is still excellent.

“Those who wanted to turn Tavecchio and I against each other are off the mark, because the President has always supported me as much as possible.

“We have to be a team, we need to work on that basis. It would be a shame to waste this work, no matter who comes after me.”
