The English full-back was one of the major disappointments of the Giallorossi's mercato last year and he was expected to leave the team in the summer.

But the club was unable to place him and the player himself allegedly refused moves to smaller clubs.

Now the Daily Mirror is running the line that Cole will not cancel his contract with Roma in spite of being left at the margins of the team.

The publication quotes a source close to the player saying that Cole intends to wait and see what the capital has in store for him.

“He’s not going to be cancelling his contract to go back to play for a lower-league club,” says the source.

“He’ll stay where he is and then consider his options.”
