Juve were paired with Barcelona, so Arthur Melo and Miralem Pjanic will be up against their old clubs, as well as Cristiano Ronaldo taking on Lionel Messi.

Their group is completed by Dynamo Kiev with a tricky away journey and Ferencvaros of Hungary.

Inter have not been fortunate in the draw either, as they are up against Achraf Hakimi’s former club Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk and German dark horses Borussia Monchengladbach.

Atalanta have a fascinating group that ought to be a favourite for the neutrals too, because their all-attack style will be up against former winners Liverpool, Ajax and Danes Midtjylland.

Lazio are back in the Champions League after 13 years and were placed in a group with Zenit St Petersburg, Borussia Dortmund and Club Brugge.
