Multiple Italian sources claim Manchester City want Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, but are not prepared to meet the €80m price-tag.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio and Sportitalia pundit Alfredo Pedullà, agent Fali Ramadani had dinner with President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

At this meeting, a message was passed on from Manchester City that they were very interested in signing Koulibaly.

While Napoli have dropped the initial €100m asking price, De Laurentiis is simply not going to drop below €80m (or €75m, in Di Marzio’s version).

Manchester City seem to be proposing €50m plus bonuses at a maximum and that will not be accepted by the Partenopei.

The Senegal international just turned 29 last month and has also been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool in the Premier League.

He is under contract with Napoli until June 2023 and there is no release clause in the deal.

Koulibaly was purchased from KRC Genk for €7.75m in the summer of 2014 and has since become one of the best centre-backs in the world.
