The reports continue to swirl around his future, suggesting moves to Inter, Juventus, Bayern Munich or Manchester United.
Despite only recently turning 22, the son of Enrico Chiesa already has 114 Serie A games under his belt, with 17 goals and 18 assists.
“I am coming off a nasty ankle injury that kept me out of the last game and I wanted to recover straight away, so I could help my teammates climb back up the table,” he told the official Fiorentina website.
“I’ll have time for a vacation later on, right now it was more important to get back into training. The city, our fans and the President deserve better than this.”
There is a new coach at Fiorentina after the Christmas break, as Vincenzo Montella was sacked to make way for Beppe Iachini.
Chiesa is also discussing a new contract with President Rocco Commisso, which could take some of the pressure off questions about his future.
“I’ve spoken to the President a lot. He really is an extraordinary person, we sat down with Commisso and (director of sport Daniele) Pradè, realising we all want what is best for Fiorentina,” continued Chiesa.
“The new coach wasted no time in teaching us his tactics and how he wants us to approach the game. Above all, he increased the tempo in training and that increases the work-rate. We hope to do well in the second half of the season.
“It’s going to be a battle against Bologna, but we hope to come back with the three points.”
Fiorentina have to do it without Franck Ribery, who is out for several more weeks after surgery on his ankle.
“I was already a fan of Franck’s even before we played together, as I watched him when he was at Bayern Munich. He only narrowly missed out on the Ballon d’Or, which tells you everything about his quality and it’s fantastic to have him here.
“Even after his injury, he insisted on coming along to be close to the team and it proves what an amazing person he is. Ribery is a real champion in every sense, both on the field and off it. I want to underline that he’s a fantastic person off the field and has taught me and the other younger players so much about the sport.”
Meanwhile, Chiesa has his sights set on the summer and Italy’s participation in Euro 2020.
“A call-up for Euro 2020 would be a huge achievement, but I need to earn my place in that squad.”
