Juventus forward Federico Chiesa returned to training with the rest of the first team squad on Friday ahead of the Bianconeri’s high-profile Serie A match-up against league leaders Milan on Sunday evening.

The 25-year-old had been called up to Luciano Spalletti’s Italy squad for the recent Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and England, but later withdrew, suffering with discomfort in his thigh.

Later medical examinations ruled out the possibility of there being a serious muscular injury, but continued discomfort for Chiesa meant that he had not trained in over a week.

Now however, multiple outlets including Goal Italia and Il Corriere dello Sport are reporting that Chiesa returned to training with the group on Friday, having been on an individualised programme in the days prior.

Il Corriere dello Sport notes that it may be too quick a turnaround for Chiesa to be handed a starting role against the Rossoneri at San Siro this weekend, but his involvement from the substitutes’ bench has not been ruled out.
