Federico Chiesa is confident Italy “will be far stronger in the future” after a 3-1 defeat to a France side that can win the World Cup.

“We are a very good side and will be far stronger in the future,” the 20-year-old Fiorentina winger told Rai Sport.

“This game will help us to learn and correct our mistakes going forward. France have so many champions and it’s really remarkable to see them in action up close. They have everything it takes to win the World Cup.

“I am at the disposal of the Coach and ready to work and learn. Every time I am called into action, I give my all.”

Chiesa can play either on the right flank or the left, whether on the midfield wing or as part of a trident attack.

“I am right-footed, so when I am on the left, I tend to cut inside, whereas on the right I aim more for the cross, but obviously I have to work on that and improve in both roles.”
