The central defender of the Bianconeri suffered yet another thigh injury at the end of February and is recovering very slowly.

Yesterday he did not take part in the team's training, and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport the odds of seeing him against the German team are very slim.

Coach Max Allegri hasn't completely given up hope of having him back in time for the match on Wednesday evening, but he is considering alternative solutions.

Juventus may field a four-man defence the way they did in the first game against Bayern, with Andrea Barzagli and Leonardo Bonucci as central defenders, and Stephen Lichtsteiner and Patrice Evra on the flanks.

Alternatively he may stick with a three-man defence and add Daniele Rugani to the centre, but that solution seems unlikely.
