Giorgio Chiellini believes his Juventus teammate Gianluigi Buffon “can stop time” as he wishes him a happy birthday.

The veteran goalkeeper turns 40 on Sunday, and this could be his final year in football as he may hang up his gloves at the end of the season.

“Our first meeting? Honestly too many years have passed, we’re too old!” Chiellini smiled when asked about his teammate by La Stampa.

“For a happy memory I’d remember the start of this cycle, in Trieste against Cagliari [in 2012], and for a dark one the last Champions League final against Real Madrid in Cardiff.

“He [Buffon] has the power to stop time, he’s better than he was a couple of years ago.

“A present for him? Gigi is only missing one big international trophy, and everyone knows what it is [the Champions League]…”
