It is reported that Chelsea will rival Manchester City for the signing of Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus.

The Old Lady defender was the subject of interest from Pep Guardiola’s side over the summer, but a transfer did not go through.

After rejecting a move to the Premier League, the 29-year-old admitted he had been ‘tempted’ by the idea before deciding to remain in Turin.

However, reports in recent days suggest City will further test Bonucci’s resolve to remain in Italy by returning with a fresh offer in January.

According to Calciomercato.it, Antonio Conte’s Chelsea have also entered the race for the Italy international, who has been at Juve since 2010.

The Bianconeri are unlikely to want to sell the player in January, but both clubs are said to be prepared to pay around £50m for Bonucci’s services.
