Chelsea have reportedly agreed to meet the €28m asking price for Inter midfielder Matias Vecino, who was also linked with Everton.

The 28-year-old Uruguay international has fallen down the pecking order with the arrival of Christian Eriksen from Tottenham Hotspur in January.

Vecino had already been very close to the exit last month, but Everton and Chelsea were unable to agree terms.

According to the Sunday Express newspaper, Chelsea are now ready to pay the €28m asking price for Vecino over the summer.

Inter purchased him from Fiorentina in 2017 for €24m and he has spent most of his career in Italy with Fiorentina, Cagliari and Empoli.

He has made 20 competitive appearances for the Nerazzurri this season, contributing three goals and one assist.

His contract at San Siro is due to expire in June 2022.
