The deal is expected to be a loan with option to buy for €5m (£4m) at the end of the season.
During the loan spell, Chelsea would pay a portion of his €2.1m per season wages.
It's believed Marin could even arrive for his medical on Monday or Tuesday.
There are also suggestions Vincenzo Montella was already scouting Marin during the Europa League Final between Sevilla and Benfica in May.
That was played in Turin at the Juventus Stadium with Montella in the stands.
